In her first ever interview to the media after agreeing for a “divorce by mutual consent” with director Selvaraghavan, the pretty Sonia Aggarwal opens up in an exclusive to sify.com on what led to the break up and rumours about her suicide attempt.
Sonia who refused to talk about her failed marriage until now says that she didn't want to become a part of the media frenzy and blowing up the issue by talking to the press.

(Laughs) Me, attempting suicide? It is a sick joke as somebody’s imagination is running wild. I am made of sterner stuff and have gone through more depressing times in my life. Right now, after work-out at the gym, I’m getting ready for my shoot. Why the hell should I even think of such a drastic move when my mind is clear and at peace? I didn't want to share anything with anyone. All of us have problems in our life, and we have to sort it out in our own way. I didn't want to take part, unwittingly, in a media made circus.
But why did you decide to file for divorce?
Everyone knows that we fell in love and decided to get married. But somewhere down the lane, we realized that it was not a smooth sail. I tried my best, like any other woman to see that the marriage works but unfortunately it didn’t. We decided to part as friends.
But you were the person who was in a hurry to enter wedlock two years back?
Who said so? I was just 24 at that time and my career was just taking off. Do you think that I would quit acting and decide to settle down? It was Selva’s mother who insisted that we legalize our relationship as she felt it was time for her son to get married. I relented and that’s how we decided for this speedy marriage. I had to fight with my parents and wait till they agreed to our decision.
According to reports, it is Andrea who caused the split?

Was Selva against your decision to enter Television, which also created the rift between you both?
In fact, it was Selva who encouraged me to do television. After putting acting aside post marriage, I had lot of time at my disposal and Selva supported me and said that television will keep me busy.
What is your state of mind now?
I need some time to heal my broken heart but make no mistake; I will be back and hopefully stronger than ever. I’m a complete professional and I will concentrate on my acting career.
