The failure of Angel John at the Kerala Box-Office has sent shock waves across the Malayalam film industry.
No Mohanlal film in recent times has taken such a poor opening. The film on its second day fell flat, and in some smaller stations was “Hold Over” (trade term for not getting the minimum required gross collection)!
At Kottayam Anand on the fifth day for Monday evening show there were hardly 56 audiences in a theatre with a capacity of over 1000 seats. The trouble was that people rejected the film as the fantasy story did not register with the audiences.
The trade pundits are saying Angel John may end up as one of Mohanlal’s biggest ever failures.
