20 days and no new releases!
By Moviebuzz  | Friday, 20 January , 2006, 09:54

It has never happened before in the history of Malayalam films! There have been no new releases so far this year. Lal Jose's Achan Urangatha Veedu, with Salim Kumar as the hero was supposed to be the first release on Jan 6, but gets postponed every week!

Like we had written earlier, there are simply no takers for small films, as theatres are in no mood to run Jayaram’s thriller Winter, but keen to show Tamil films like Aathi or Paramasivan.Their argument is that they will not even get money to pay their electricity charges if they play small films!

Last year there were four releases in January including the blockbuster Udayananu Tharam, but this year as of now only Dileep's Lion is slated for release on Jan 28. At this rate 2006 will have less than 40 releases, something which has not happened since 1963!
