Khan, 43, was expected to speak to the waiting media but instead drove straight to his Bandra residence from the airport.

The actor, who is popularly known as King Khan, had gone to the US for the South Asian Independence Day Carnival in Houston and Chicago, but was detained at the Newark airport for questioning.

The incident had caused a furore in India, with the government stating that the issue will be taken up with the US.
