Rituparna Sengupta is playing a double role in one of her new films,
Pallab Ghosh’s Comeback. She plays both wife and daughter to
Bangladeshi actor Ferdous with her Trishna co-star Angshuman playing
the daughter’s boyfriend. The plot revolves around a traditional
Bengali housewife, Anjali, who is married to Dibyajyoti (Ferdous) who
suspects her fidelity. He turns insane after Anjali’s death.
Years
later, Anjali’s daughter Adwitiya (Rituparna) decides to cure her
father of his insanity and poses as his wife, Anjali. For the first
time in his career, Ferdous is sporting salt-and-pepper hair in his
hair and has a long span as husband and then father in the film. “It
is a challenge for me to play Rituparna’s father.
I want to play
different kinds of roles and not just the romantic hero,” says Ferdous
whose last film with Rituparna, Aaynaate, flopped at the box office.
Rituparna has no compunctions about playing mother because she does
not need to wear a grey wig as the character dies while still
relatively young. She will be a traditional Bengali housewife as
Anjali and wear Western clothes as Adwitiya and is looking forward to
a challenging role after Trishna. Angshuman plays a cop in this film.
Ashok Bhadra has been roped in to compose the music for the five
tracks in the film which will be extensively shot on location across
Mumbai, Mahabaleshwar and Vishakhapatnam. Comeback is being produced
by Channel Eight Motion Pictures.
