Manoj Tiwari to contest Lok Sabha elections
Thursday, 08 January , 2009, 12:09

Mumbai: He has millions of supporters in Bihar & Uttar Pradesh, and he has been seen in several Congress functions (including Sonia Gandhi's birthday function) as well. He has also been supporting several parties in different elections in Bihar & Uttar Pradesh. But this time, he has different plans.

Yes, it is official now, Manoj Tiwari will fight Gorakhpur constituency in upcoming Lok Sabha elections. And, what is seen as the most surprising fact is, he will be fighting it on Samajwadi Party ticket, and that too against a leader he used to admire the most. Yes, Manoj has been personally praising Yogi Adityanath, the BJP MP from Gorakhpur, till recently, and now he is preparing to fight aginst him.

"On January 16th, Manoj will goto Gorakhpur to attend a function, where his nomination would be announced in presence of big leaders of Samajwadi Party," said Shashikant Singh, Manoj's spokesperson.

When we contacted Manoj on this issue, he confirms our reports - "Yes, Mulayam Singh & Amar Singh has offferred me to fight elections from either Gorakhpur, Bhadohi or Mirzapur, and I had accepted the offer."

"I want to do a lot for Purvanchal, and films have several restrictions, thats why I selected to contest elections. I want to join politics to make some major changes in it, I want to work for the betterment of the people" said the star.

If the internal reports are to be believed, Manoj also had some issues (in 2007) with Hari Shankar Tiwari - underworld don from Gorakhpur - and he is preparing to answer him by this move. This is also said that, he left Bhadohi constituency, as Ramesh Dubey is MP from there, who is also uncle of Bhojpuri film producer Jitesh Dubey.
