H Sridhar, the wizard of sound, passed away today morning (Dec 1) in Chennai, after a massive heart attack. The audiographer was the right-hand man of A.R Rahman, because he engineered the correct sound equilibrium to the Mozart of Chennai's tunes.

It was Mani Ratnam who introduced him to Rahman and together the duo has produced outstanding music. Take a look at some of their best of picks- Roja, Gentleman, Kadhalan, Thiruda Thiruda, Bombay, Duet, Mahanadi, Rangeela, Kuruthippunnal, Muthu, Indian, Minsaara Kanavu and Iruvar

On most of A.R Rahman's audio covers, the top billing among technicians would be H.Sridhar and his Media Artists. He was a favourite of Mani Ratnam, K Balachandar, Bharathiraaja, Shankar, Kamal Hassan, P C Sreeram, Priyadarsan, and Ramgopal Varma.

Among the audiographers in the country, Sridhar has won the maximum number of National Awards for four of his films Mahanadi, Dil Se, Kannathil Muthamittal, Lagaan.

Says noted director Priyadarsan: "He was the best sound engineer I have ever worked with, he pioneered the DTS format in the country". Sridhar has also engineered and mixed albums for international artists like George Harrison, John Neptune Kaizan, Pandit Ravi Shankar, Zakir Hussain and others.
