Pritviraj the fastest rising star in Malayalam cinema is playing the role of a film director in Ranjith produced and directed Thirakatha.

In the film, Pritvi plays film director Akbar Ahamed, a youth director who changes film making with his very first film. Ranjith has based his film on the golden age of Malayalam cinema – 70's and 80's, when there were so many good and meaningful films.

In a way, Thirakatha is an experimental film which has also Anoop Menon, Nishanth Sagar, Arun, Jagathy and also boasts of two heroines.

National award winning actress Priyamani plays the role of an yester year heroine, while there is also Samvrutha and Surabhi in the cast.

The film is being shot in Kozhikode, Wayanad and Thiruvananthapuram locations by cameraman M.J Radhakrishnan. Thirakatha has music by Sharat who is making a comeback to film music after eight years.

Sharat was recently in the limelight as one of the judges in Asinet's super hit reality show "Idea Star Singer".
