	Asin means 'pure' or 'without blemish' and is a confluence of Eastern and Western culture. The word `A` is from Sanskrit and `Sin` is Western. My name is so unique that I am yet to have come across anyone with a similar name. My parents. did not want me to be segregated on the basis of any caste or religion when they gave me such a unique name.

Asin on screen
The pretty Asin debuted in Sathyan Anthikkad's Narendran Makan Jayakanthan Vaka in 2001.

But her first big film was Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi opposite Ravi Teja in 2003. She won the Telugu Filmfare Award for Best Actress.[2] More successful Telugu films like Shivamani, Lakshmi Narasimha and Gharshana followed. She then conquered the Tamil film industry with superhits like M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi and Ghajini

After establishing herself as a top star in the south, Asin moved to Bollywood with the remake of Ghajini. Her role as Kalpana Shetty has put her in the top league.
