Ajay Devgan burst into Bollywood as an action hero with Phool Aur Kaante in 1991, and was awarded the Filmfare Best Debut Award for his performance.

But there was no typecasting him after he proved he was open to all kinds of roles. He won a national award for his sensitive performance in Zakhm (1998), starred in romantic comedies like Pyaar To Hona Hi Tha (1998) and Ishq (1997), and made a mark with his powerful roles in Omkara (2006) and Raincoat (2004).
