His latest, Jail, has seen critical acclaim coming it's way and is now entering it's second week today. However, Madhur Bhandarkar is far from resting. In the ongoing 33rd Cairo International Film Festival in Egypt, his films have been invited under the section 'Tribute to Indian Cinema'. This event would showcase retrospective of 5 films from the National Award winner filmmaker.
Madhur Bhandarkar to go on trial for rape
Some of the other prominent actors who are already attending the event are Salma Hayek, Lucy Liu, Samuel L. Jackson and Tom Berenger.
Meanwhile, all is not well on the personal front of Madhur Bhandarkar. Ghosts of the past are back to haunt him again as the years old case where an aspiring starlet had accused Madhur Bhandarkar of rape is back in limelight.
"I really don't wish to comment on it since the matter is sub judice", says Madhur Bhandarkar.
On being prodded further, all he was willing to say was, "It is a sensitive issue and let the law take its own course. People should just realise though that I have a mother, wife and a daughter at home, hence this case shouldn't take the shape of trial by media. That's my humble request to entire print and electronic media."
