I am very nervous: Imran Khan
IndiaFM  | Thursday, 18 September , 2008, 12:12

You may find this hard to believe, but Imran Khan hasn't watched his debut film Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na yet. "I watched the final cut of the film, without the background score. But I've yet to watch the complete version that's playing in theatres," Imran says.

Why hasn't he watched the film yet? "It has been hectic. We were neck deep into promotions and post release,, and we were touring various parts of the country, too. Later, I flew to South Africa for the shooting of Luck. I haven't had the time to watch the complete version or enjoy its success," he says.

Though Imran wasn't nervous before the release of his first film, he's definitely nervous this time. "My role in Kidnap is in sharp contrast to what I've portrayed in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. How would the audience react this time? Will they accept me in an aggressive role? That gives me goose bumps," he says.

Has he watched Kidnap? How's it looking? "I watched my portions while dubbing. And I think I've done pretty well. But Aamir mamu watched the film recently and sent me a text message that night. It read 'You've done very well'. That's one compliment I will always cherish. Incidentally, he felt that I was quite okay in Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na," Imran smiles.

Imran's honesty surprises you all the while. "I haven't had many offers after Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na. Surprised, aren't you? But it's a fact. In fact, I don't have any film after Delhi Belly. I am free from January 2009 onwards," he says.

He did receive four to five offers in between, "but I didn't like any of the scripts. Perhaps people are under the impression that if they wish to sign me, they have to come via Aamir mamu, but that's not true. He's so busy himself. The decision to accept a film is entirely mine."

Would he act with Aamir? "Oh yes, I would love to, but, again, there has to be an offer. If he agrees to it and I like my part as well, I would be game," he smiles. What if his other mamu, Mansoor Khan, made him that offer? "That wouldn't be possible. We are three different people and I doubt if we'd ever work with each other," he says.
