Previous  |  Next Khamoshi—The Musical (1996) Music: Jatin-Lalit (and a couple of songs by Remo Fernandez) Lyrics: Majrooh Sultanpuri and Remo Fernandez There are some albums where it’s difficult to point whether the music supercedes the film, or the other way around. Khamoshi, the debut film of Bhansali, is one such. It’s also one of the albums where it’s impossible to decide on a favourite song, because it would mean excluding the others, which are all equally soulful and magical. Interesting irony for a film named Khamoshi, no? This album interestingly didn’t have a `mood’ and comprised all sorts of songs from the romantic, to the upbeat, sad and happy, with the only constant being their unmatched soulfulness. The songs were composed by Jatin-Lalit, and are easily among their best work. Baahon Ke Darmiyan picturised on Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala was truly one of the more romantic numbers of recent times. This outstanding number was sung by Hariharan and Alka Yagnik. Jana Suno Hum Tum Pe Marte Hain another romantic song was sung Udit Narayan. Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai was of the soulful, soft variety again rendered by Krishnamurthy. Gaate The Pehle Akele was a fun song by Kavita Krishnamurthy, Shraddha, and Khusnum, and another upbeat song was Aaj Main Upar picturised on Manisha Koirala sung by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Kumar Sanu.The other songs like Saagar Kinare Do Dil Hai Pyase and Mausam Ki Sargam Ko were superlative as well.
