Kareena is on a high these days. After giving a fine performance in Omkara, she has been signed on for Mani Ratnam’s Lajjo. The film will be an adaptation of Ismat Chugtai’s book of the same name. The interesting part is that she will be paired together for the first time with Aamir Khan.

This will be Kareena’s second period film after Asoka. Kareena feels glad that she has got an opportunity to play such role at this phase of her career.

She has already started reading Chugtai’s period love story to understand her role and to get into the skin of the character. Previously she had worked with Mani Ratman for Yuva and Mani Ratnam is currently shooting for his film Guru. Lajjo will go on floor in January and will be out in mid 2007.
