Bal Thackeray gets a special preview of Sarkar
By IndiaFM  | Monday, 27 June , 2005, 15:47

The buzz that Amitabh Bachchan's title character in Ram Gopal Varma's Sarkar is based on Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray gains momentum with Thackeray demanding a preview of the film before its release this Friday. And RGV was cool enough to oblige.

A special screening of the film was held at Rajkamal Studios on Saturday evening especially for Thackeray and family. Balasaheb himself along with his son Uddhav Thackeray and nephew Raj Thackeray attended the screening. The media was strictly kept out of picture.

This is not the first time that Balasaheb Thackeray has insisted for a movie preview before its theatrical release. In 1995 the Sena chief insisted for a preview of Mani Ratnam's film Bombay that was based on the 1992-93 communal riots in Mumbai. Thackeray also made Ratnam delete certain scenes of a character based on him played by Tinu Anand. Incidentally Amitabh Bachchan's company ABCL distributed Bombay.

Thackeray has not given his views on Sarkar as yet neither has RGV spoken on the matter. We just hope that the eagerly awaiting audiences do not miss out this Hindi adaptation of Godfather that looks so promising by its promos.
