If there’s one thing that 2005 will be remembered by, it’s the variety of cinema that India produced….
And none showed a propensity to rule over the year’s law of versatility better than the performing maestro Amitabh Bachchan.
2005 has been specially productive for him. He has already been seen in three major films one of which (Black) is a clear benchmark in Bachchan’s career. And now in the next two months this indefatigable show-stopper is expected to be seen in four other films—five, if we count the guest appearance in Mahesh Manjrekar’s Struggler (which opens on 22 July).
Amol Palekar’s Paheli which opens 24 June has a the Big B in a prominent cameo with Shah Rukh Khan. This is the first time he plays a Rajasthani character since Sunil Dutt’s Reshma Aur Shera and K.C. Bokadia’s Aaj Ka Arjun.
At the end of July, Big B appears in Dil Jo Bhi Kahey, produced and directed by the old Bachchan buddy Romesh Sharma. The Big B plays Sharma’s son debutant Karan Sharma’s father while the talented Revathy stars as his other half.
