'Bride' off to a flying start!
By Taran Adarsh (IndiaFM.com)  | Wednesday, 13 October , 2004, 10:42

Weekend: October 8 - 10, 2004.

The verdict is out: Gurinder Chadha's Bride & Prejudice has taken a flying start in U.K., faring much better than the two major Hollywood openers [Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Man On Fire].

But when compared to Gurinder's earlier film Bend It Like Beckham, the opening weekend collections as well as the per screen average of Bride & Prejudice has been lower. Bend It Like Beckham had also debuted at No. 1 position in the U.K. charts, collecting £ 2,001,795 on 384 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 5,213.

Will Bride & Prejudice outdo the business of Bend It Like Beckham, only time will tell.
