Taylor Swift bagged the Song of the Year award on November 10 night without anyone (read Kanye West) butting in and implying she didn't deserve it. Phew! That said, the country music awards held at Nashville saw the who's who of the genre flock to the big night.
The night celebrated Kris Kristofferson of Me and Bobby McGee fame as a BMI icon. It was a more than a statutory title. Patty Griffin, Vince Gill and Willie Nelson took to the stage in tribute to the winner of 48 BMI Country & Pop Awards.
Bobby Pinson walked away with the Songwriter of the Year award. The highly sought out collaborator capped his hits for Sugarland (All I want to do, Already gone, Toby Keith (She never cried in front of me, and Josh Gracin (We weren't crazy) with this prestigious award.
Other highlights of the evening included songwriters Jeffrey Steele and Lee Thomas Miller taking to the stage for having had three songs in the top 50 of the most-performed list.
But we're the gladdest for Taylor Swift for having had an uneventful evening.
Take a look at pretty Taylor and her fraternity hit the red carpet at Nashville. But special mention to the lone misfit who tried to blend in with the red carpet - Nicole Kidman who got invited by virtue of being married to country music star Keith Urban.
