What is IE code

Import-Export Code or IEC Code is unique 10 digit code issued by DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade , Ministry of Commerce, Government of India to Indian Companies.

What is the tenure of an IEC?
a. An IEC once issued is permanent in nature till the same is surrendered by the IEC holder or cancelled by the Licencing Authority upon any default made be the IEC holder.

Register with IE code
If one wants to export or import any goods, one needs to have an Importer-Exporter Code (IEC). The certificate is issued by the Director General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) and needs to be registered as an individual, firm, organization, entity.

 
 
 
How to Register IE code

1.  Download forms from the button below.
2.  Request letter on your company's letter head for issue of new IEC
3.  Application in Appendix 2 and Appendix 3 format (in duplicate).

4.  Application fees (Challan/DD) of Rs.1000/- in favour of the      licencing office (example:-in case of Chennai office it should be in      favour of 'Jt.DGFT,Chennai' .
5.  Bank Certificate as per Ann.1 to Appendix 3 (on bank's letter      head) duly signed by branch manager or higher authority.
6.  Two photographs of signatory duly pasted on the backside of      Appendix -3 at the place provided for it and attested by the bank.      One extra photo in loose with the application.

7.  Declarations as follows
          * I/We, hereby, declare that the proprietor/partners/directors/karta of firm/co. is/are not associated as           proprietor/partners/directors/karta of firm/co. which has been caution listed by the RBI.
          * In case of non resident interest/investment in the firm/co.only : declaration as per sr.No.5 as on the back side of           Appendix 3 should be given.
8.  Copy of PAN issuing letter or PAN card.
9.  Self addresses envelope with Rs.25/- postal stamp for delivery of IEC certificate by registered post.or challen/DD of Rs.100/-      for speed post.
10. P.S.: Please tag all the documents to a folder.
11. Submit it the the Zonal office of the director of Foreign Trade.
12. The certificate shall be couriered to you.
