Last month, the company announced the launch of its low-cost homes on eight acres. The spread is part of a 68-acre township project Tata Housing intends to develop in this industrial hub. The apartments in the range of 283- 465 square feet are priced between Rs 3.9 lakh and Rs 6.7 lakh.
Tata Housing said over 15,000 forms had been sold through its offices, 12 State Bank of India branches in Mumbai and Micro Housing Finance Corporation. Further, the project Web site received over 38 lakh hits. The additional offering was in response to the overwhelming public interest shown in the project. Bookings have been closed and allotment of units will be announced by this month-end.
Brotin Banerjee, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Tata Housing, said there was huge support for the initiative. Landowners and state governments were keen on teaming up with the company to take the low cost model to other parts of the country.
