New Delhi: The total approximate earnings of Indian Railways on originating basis during the period from October 1-10, 2009 were Rs 2173.34 crore as compared with Rs 1879.01 crore during the same period last year, registering an increase of 15.66 per cent.
Earnings from goods services have gone up to Rs. 1431.58 crore during the review period from Rs 1227.14, showing an increase of 16.66 per cent.
The total passenger revenue earnings during the period October 1-10, 2009 were Rs 663.45 crore as compared with Rs. 588.45 crore during the same period last year, reflecting an increase of 12.75 per cent. The revenue earnings from other coaching amounted to Rs. 62.88 crore during this period compared with Rs 47.72 crore during the same period last year, showing an increase of 31.77 per cent.
The total approximate number of passengers booked during October 1-10, 2009 were 215.77 million as compared with 193.33 million during the same period last year, showing an increase of 11.61 per cent.
In the suburban and non-suburban sectors, the number of passengers booked during October 1-10, 2009 were 116.51 million and 99.26 million respectively as compared with 104.16 million and 89.17 million during the same period last year, registering an increase of 11.86 per cent and 11.32 per cent respectively.
