| Padma Vibhushan for Ratan Tata, L.N. Mittal
New Delhi: The government has honoured a host of personalities from trade and industry with the Padma Vibhushan and Padma Shree awards.
Ratan Naval Tata, Chairman, Tata Group; and N.R. Narayana Murthy, Chief Mentor Infosys; were honoured with the Padma Vibhushan along with the Arcelor-Mittal Chief, L.N. Mittal and P.R.S. Oberoi, Chairman and CEO, EIH Ltd.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation’s Managing Director, E. Sreedharan and Dr R.K. Pachauri, who collected the 2007 Nobel prize on behalf of his organisation, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, also received the Padma Vibhushan.
India’s all time favourite cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, chess master Vishwanathan Anand and singer Asha Bhosle were amongst those to receive the Padma Vibhushan along with Pranab Mukherjee, Minister of External Affairs.

Padma Bhushans
K.V. Kamath, MD and CEO of ICICI Bank; Shiv Nadar of HCL; Baba Kalyani of Bharat Forge; D.R. Mehta, former SEBI Chairman; and Suresh Kumar Neotia of Gujarat Ambuja were among the others felicitated from the trade and industry sector with the Padma Bhushan award. Citigroup’s new CEO, India born Vikram Pandit; Economist Lord Meghnad Desai; and astronaut Ms Sunita Williams are also on the list of Padma Bhushan awardees.
Dr Amit Mitra, Secretary General, FICCI, and Ms Colette Mathur of the Davos-based World Economic Forum, were awarded the Padmashris.
