Rajkot: The Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav, today said if Nano is facing trouble in Gujarat similar to that in Singur then it is welcome to Bihar as the State has lots of wasteland.
"The Government here has given agriculture land to the Tatas for the setting up of Nano Car Project. Farmers are agitating against the move," Yadav told reporters during his visit to Somnath.
Nano's soft launch likely by year-end
"There is lot of barren land around Dwarka (pilgrim place located in Jamnagar district of the State). If they had given land to Tata near Dwarka, the area, which has not seen much development so far, would have been developed. People there don't get water to drink," Yadav said.
Nano-land prices rise fivefold
"If the State Government is not able to handle the Nano project here, Tatas are welcome to Bihar where we have a lot of barren land," he added.

Yadav said the Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi, should not take credit for the project as many other States were willing to give land for Nano. The Gujarat Government has given 1,100 acres of Anand Agriculture University (AAU) land to Tata for relocation of Nano car project from Singur in West Bengal to Sanand in Gujarat.
Farmers living in village around the site have claimed that the land given to Tata's was acquired by the British Government on a 99-year lease and are demanding that they should be compensated for the land.
