
New Delhi: Travelling the world to fulfill his commitments towards public health, Microsoft's founder Bill Gates today revealed that he had cast his ballot for the US Presidential polls through absentee ballot four days ago.
As Barack Obama was elected to the White House today, Gates who is here as part of his Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation efforts to shore up polio eradication and anti-tobacco efforts said he did not openly campaign for any political party due to his association with Microsoft and philanthropic activities.

"But I do pick up issues like global health with them," he told reporters here and added that he had voted four days ago through absentee ballot.

Asked whether he has any message for Obama, the leading philanthropist said he would be meeting the US President-elect and his aides next month and would convey his message directly.

"Both candidates made strong commitments to increase funds for spending on global health. Hopefully we would have even stronger Indo-US ties in this respect," he said.

Commenting on whether the global meltdown would affect commitments made by world powers towards spending on the health sector in developing countries, he said "I don't think there would be any decrease in spending in global health".

Gates said, he was not worried about the financial crisis affecting Microsoft. "We have some very good people managing the company and I would not like to go back there," he said.
