Vijay's Madurae carries mixed reports but the film took an extraordinary opening, thanks to Ghillli. In Chennai city all theatres reported 100 percent collections for the opening weekend. It is clearly the number one this week. VasoolrajaMBBS continues to charm Chennai but has fallen in the rest of Tamil Nadu.

Anacondas-2 as expected took a great opening but is not likely to sustain. The curiosity of whether there will be the `Markandeya` song which has been stayed by High Court has repeat audience coming for New. Dhoom released in two theatres has also taken a good opening. Mohanlal's Natturajavu has also taken a bumper opening.

The film when compared to the original is a major let down. The on-screen chemistry between the lead pair is missing and music is a big let down.	Has netted an amazing Rs 9, 78,000 in four days from Satyam Cineplex. The film is strong in Chennai and suburbs but carries mixed reports in rest of Tamil Nadu.
Anacondas-2	Johnny Messner, Kadee Strickland, Matthew Mardsen	The brand value of Anaconda	Very tacky production values.By comparison to the first Anaconda movie, this one has no major stars just a giant digital snake.	Since it was a simultaneous release with US, it had a fantastic opening but is unlikely to sustain due to bad word-of-mouth.
New	S.J.Suryah, Simran	Simran's glamour, Rahman's peppy music	Still has good collections with repeat audience. The controversies surrounding the addition of a sexy number is creating more hype	Super hit. Grossed an amazing, Rs 1.12 Crore on the opening day itself from 120 theatres in Tamilnadu.
Dhoom	Abhishek Bachchan, Rimi Sen, Esha Deol, John Abraham	Lot of style and gloss with a young star cast	No basic story and the plot is bizarre	Sold cheap to distributors by Yashraj Films, everybody will make money.
