Reservation should be based only on economic criteria. In a country like India, where economic disparity is really huge, economic criteria should be the only consideration for policies on reservation.
No, I disagree with this concept. In a democratic country like India, reservation should be granted. Only 40% of the seats were granted for reservation. Those who agree with the above topic can express their talents to gain 60% of the other seats. It is due to the reservation their be distribution of several other communities(including backward, SC,& ST) in a particular organization. If reservation does not persists, then there will be accumulation of only one or two kind of castes. For this problem it is better to remove all castes from the indian jurisdiction. Then we can solve this problem in mere future.
The reservation was meant for one generation i.e. 15 years at the time of independence and was conceded as a compromise to get Mr. Ambedkar's support for independence. Rest what followed is the vote bank politics of the political parties. If the present trend is any guide it is futile to hope for any logical actions from any government as all of them are trapped in their own web of vote banks.
First of all all politicians shout from tree tops that caste must be abolished. They also claim reservations are the only way to uplift the downtroden.
What is meant by uplifting? Increasing the income level only! After 50 years of reservation some people have been benefitted. And some have had negative effects.
Hence if the ill effects of castism must be eliminated and at the same time the lower level people must become prosperous, the only way is to apply reservation based on income only and not based on caste.
Educated, well to do people from such reservation hungry catses must themselves lead from the front if they have are self respecting people.
Today in the so called forward communities of Tamilnadu atleast, dowry has become insignificant: This change came about only from within! This example can be definitely emulated by others in all applicable fields.
