Maharashtra BJP president Nitin Gadkari today said the congress-NCP government's
attempt to implement the Srikrishna Commission report after a gap of seven and
a half years was just to appease the Muslim community.
Talking to reporters, Mr Gadkari said, ''This is nothing but vote- bank politics.
The Congress is trying to revive its image, which got a bashing in the Wakf
Board controversy, in which corruption to the tune of Rs 10,000 crore had taken
place.'' Mr Gadkari alleged that the Wakf controversy had nailed most of the
Congress leaders and said the minority community was drifting away from the
party.
''This is a ploy to appease and win them back. This, however, may hurt the
sentiments of the majority and may even lead to riots,'' he warned.
'' The BJP will oppose the implementaion of the report,'' Mr Gadkari added.
