| Hyderabad: The rain clouds have done a disappearing act again and the cloud seeding experiment in the city has turned out to be a damp squib. However, Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy symbolically handed over the ‘Indra Megha Madanam’ flag to officials entrusted with the cloud seeding operations. He asked them to continue the project whenever clouds visited the skies.
Met officials have said that rain clouds will take two more days to show up. So the project is likely to be delayed for another two days. The Cessna will take off only when clouds fill the skies. From early Wednesday morning, officials had their eyes on the sky hoping to get some rain clouds over Ranga Reddy district, but to no avail.
The special radar brought from the United States failed to show any clouds and by Wednesday afternoon, it was amply clear that they were not going to come. Meanwhile, YSR said that the State will pump in Rs 8 crore in addition to the Rs 15 crore to extend the project to other parts of the Telangana region.
