A non-resident musician, one must acknowledge Rajeswari's enthusiasm and dedication in pursuing music seriously in spite being miles away from the home-town of carnatic music. Accompanied by musicians who are co-NRMs, her CD speaks of a new cadre of prformers who can emerge from new centres, and thus be the cause for spread and availability of music across the globe.She starts off a krithi in Gambeeranattai composed by her guru (late) C.S.Krishna Iyer, followed by a brief but brisk exploration in swara prastharam. Dikshitar's Parvathikumara in nattakurinji is quickly rendered to set the tempo, and she moves on to a more elaborate pantuvarali to continue with Vasudevachar's shankari ninne. Raaga rendering shows her hard work and effort in delivering her best - something even seasoned artistes loose grip of. Radhika Mani lives upto the ocassion, though her speed variations and sound control could do with some improvisations.A neat Gowrimanohari follows to set the right mood for Thyagaraja's Gurulekha Etuvandi... she shows her ability to think different and innovate, but lack of experiences peeks in in the structuring of the raga especially because of its brevity and therefore a need to express better. Anjaneya Ramdhootha in Saveri with a slow set raaga elaboration maintains the mood, followed by the popular raagamalika 'Aarabimanam' that brings forth good nuances in arabhi, anadha bhairvi, kalyani and more all in quick succession sung with perfection and good control. Purandaradasa's Antakana in Bhagyashri completes a good effort of an artiste not known in these circles but has the potential to fare well.
