Amudham cassettes have released this album, a set of six chosen kritis rendered by the upcoming artistes Sreerama Prasad and Ravikumar, commonly known as Malladi Brothers. The very commencing piece ‘Cheraravademira’ in Ritigowla generates a dazzling musical ambiance that is succeeded by a crisp and incredible improvisation of Purvikalyani raga, with the sangatis ably reiterated by Embar kannan on the violin. The brothers pacify the listeners by their kalpana swaras for the Dikshithar kriti ‘Kasi Visalakshi’ that have been delivered with absolute ease revealing their unconstrained manodharma. One would applaud on hearing them sing ‘Avadharu Raghupathi’ in Khamas and ‘Etulaina Bhakthi’ in Sama, interspersed with bhava and bhakthi. They deserve right appreciation for their unique voice modulation, perfect adherence to sruthi that are highlighted in the kriti ‘Ninnadanela’ (Kannada). The brothers have taken commendable effort in selecting the kritis that would provide a variety in tala - adi, rupakam, kanda chapu and misra chapu presented within the duration of the cassette. They have pronounced the lyrics of the songs with correct accent and convey the meaning through their highly sensitive musical expressions. Any keen listener would love to listen to their remarkable vistara of Bhairavi that is replete with raga bhava sangatis followed by a graceful presentation of ‘Thanayuni brova’ that elevates the listener to unknown heights. listen to sample. The thani avarthanam between K.V.Prasad and S.Karthick nourished with impromptu accurate rhythmic patterns is undoubtedly an aural feast to the audience.
