Kaana vendamo

If you read it as 'Kana vendamo'read again, it should actually be 'kaana vendaamo'. And that's the title and first song of this CD from the Amutham stable(a company run by Raghunathan of Sudha fame). If you are looking for a brisk start to a memorable concert, then it lets you down from the time you press play. Hindolam handled with good control follows, preceded by a 'Ragamalika slokam' leading upto 'Saamagana lole' by GNB.Ponniah Pillai's 'Ambaa Nelaambari' . listen to samplein the same name raga does little to lift your spirits to a brisk pace, but if you don't mind settling down and relaxing, avoid skipping this oneIf you enjoy compositions that can touch the heart, Kaanthamam by Mayuram Viswanatha Shastri does that, well set in Sindhu bhairavi.The list is slightly intriguing, the mix and the selection. And any indication of why it is called kana vendamo, except for the first song! After this is an MS-style abhang and, then to good old thyagaraja vaachama gocharamey', in kaikavasi (a janya of 60th melakartha neetimati, SRGMPDNS,SNPMGRS)The CD ends in a dance-drama style in a new raagam.M.A.Krishnaswami on the violin J.Vaidhyanathan on the mrudangam,and S.Karthick on the ghatam try to salvage as much of the concert as possible.-critique
