The album `Yadava Madhava’ has brought out in full measure the devotion in O.S.Arun. He has rendered each and every sloka on “Sri Krishna” in quite a bhakthi mode. The stanzas are brought out in the form of bhajans. The softness and melody in Arun’s rendition appear to have the effect of rejuvenating the body as well the mind.
Bhajans usually appeal to most listeners. In this instant, however, O.S. Arun’s halting approach to the rendition interspersed with right pronunciation makes it for a complete meditation as well. Arun’s stint in the North has, perhaps, ensured that he handles other languages with the same felicity as he does Tamil.
In this album, the emphasis is on Lord Krishna who also goes by very many names like Yadava (cowherd, leads all human beings to the path of salvation), Madhava (the beloved of Lakshmi), Keshava, Madusudhana, Govinda, Padmanabha and Damodhara. A lot of thought appears to have gone into the making of album. Emerald blue is chosen as the colour of the cassette cover. It has Sudharshana Chakra embedded in it, signifying the presence of Krishna.
The album begins with Krishana Karnamrta sloka and is followed by Bala Mukundastakam and Govindastakam. Next comes the beautiful Madurastakam composed by Vallabhacharya. Sung with total involvement, this brings out the mystic beauty of Krishna. After this, Arun presents the Rasa Krida of Krishna from Narayaneeyam with devotion and bhava. It concludes with Yadava Madhava, which leaves a lasting impression on a listener.
Arun gets support by Ganapathy in rhythms. The supporting vocal artistes are Swati & Revathi, Nandini, Ramamurthi, Jayashri Bharath, Hema Venkat, Mathangi. The cassette is produced by Charsur Digital Work Station and priced at Rs.50.
